Teachers can use a variety of strategies to support students in their quest to learn content and English. These include providing word walls, using cooperative grouping of students, using graphic organizers so students see relationships between words, reading to students while providing instructional support, and providing students with technology. With proper support, ELL students can thrive in classrooms and learn the content that they need to learn while also learning the academic language that is essential to success in school.
